Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Full-Time

About the role

Reporting to the Fleet Manager, the Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs preventative and corrective maintenance on a wide range of construction equipment and vehicles. The ideal candidate enjoys hands‑on work, takes pride in quality, and thrives on solving mechanical challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Prioritize repair requirements and schedule work accordingly.
• Inspect and test repaired equipment to ensure it meets performance and safety standards.
• Evaluate parts for reuse, repair or replacement.
• Document time, parts used, and repairs in the shop system.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized shop, tools and equipment.
• Assist team members and travel occasionally to job sites to support field mechanics.
• Discuss preventative techniques with drivers/operators to reduce future repairs.

Required profile

• Relevant experience with heavy equipment maintenance.
• Excellent diagnostic skills and technical aptitude.
• Strong troubleshooting and decision‑making abilities.
• Good reading, writing and numeracy skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Solid work ethic with a safety‑first mindset.
• Strong English communication, both oral and written.
• Proactive and resourceful attitude.
• Valid G licence with a clean driving abstract.

What we offer

• $43‑48 per hour, based on experience.
• Permanent full‑time position with a regular shift (Mon‑Thu 7:00 AM‑4:30 PM, Fri 7:00 AM‑3:30 PM).
