Experienced Fitter – MIG Welding – Bowmanville

About the role

We are seeking an Experienced Fitter with strong MIG welding expertise to join our Bowmanville facility. The role involves fitting, fabricating, and welding structural steel components for bridge and other steel markets.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and schematics to select appropriate welding processes.
• Fit, fabricate, cut, drill, bevel, and grind metal parts to ensure proper fit‑up.
• Lay out, position, and align assemblies before welding, using clamps, tack‑welds, heat‑bending, and bolts.
• Set up and operate hand and power tools, including wheel and die grinders, and build your own jigs.
• Perform welding on stainless steel and aluminum when required.
• Inspect work to maintain quality standards and adhere to safety regulations.
• Assist with general labour tasks and support large‑scale custom fabrications.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of fitting experience and 5 years of MIG welding.
• Welding certificate or diploma preferred; CWB weld ticket preferred or obtainable.
• Self‑motivated, able to work with little supervision in a fast‑paced environment.
• Willingness to work overtime and maintain a positive attitude.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
