Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Clerk

About the role

The HSE Clerk acts as the on‑site representative for the Health, Safety & Environment department, providing administrative and coordination support to the HSE team and field operations. Working under the direction of the HSE Coordinator or Manager, the clerk helps implement safety programs and ensures documentation is current and accessible.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct new‑worker and visitor site orientations.
• Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committee activities, schedule meetings and record minutes.
• Maintain safety boards, training records, certifications and compliance logs.
• Track, organize and file inspections, permits (confined space, hot work, critical lift) and other safety documentation.
• Provide first‑aid treatment when required and assist with incident and near‑miss documentation.
• Support emergency preparedness by maintaining equipment and assisting during response situations.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience in health & safety, administrative or construction support roles.
• Degree or certificate in Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety or a related field is an asset.
• Working knowledge of Ontario health & safety legislation in construction is an asset.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle for travel between office and project sites.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
• Experience using Microsoft 365 platforms such as SharePoint for document management.
• Comfort with digital safety platforms, mobile applications and site‑based reporting tools.
