Health Care Aide – Home Care Support

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position supports clients receiving home and visiting care in Calgary. You will assist patients with daily activities, ensure their comfort, and help maintain a safe environment.

Key responsibilities

• Accompany patients on outdoor recreational activities.
• Take vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature and pulse.
• Serve meals, feed patients and manage nutrition trays.
• Assist with personal care: bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Supply and empty bed pans, collect specimens and administer first aid.
• Administer suppositories, colonic irrigations and enemas.
• Lift, turn, position and weigh patients safely (up to 9 kg).
• Make beds, maintain patient rooms and manage inventory of supplies.
• Supervise exercise routines and respond to call signals.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation certificate.
• Health Care Aide Certificate.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), First Aid and CPR certifications.
• 1–2 years of experience in home or visiting care.
• Valid driver’s licence, own vehicle and ability to travel (expenses not covered).
• Clear criminal record, vulnerable sector, TB test and immunization records.
• Client‑focused, dependable, good communication and teamwork.
