Head of Northern Programs

About the role

The Weston Family Foundation is seeking a senior leader to head its Northern portfolio. This permanent, full‑time position will guide the design and execution of innovative biodiversity programs across Canada’s northern landscapes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic programs that deliver measurable biodiversity outcomes in northern peatlands.
• Collaborate closely with the Northern Committee of the Board and serve as the primary liaison to government agencies, Indigenous and northern communities, land‑stewards, industry partners, and grantees.
• Convene stakeholders, foster partnerships, and ensure alignment of initiatives with the Foundation’s mission.
• Oversee the Northern grant portfolio, monitoring progress and impact.
• Represent the Foundation externally at high‑level meetings and events.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in environmental or conservation program management.
• Deep understanding of northern ecosystems and biodiversity challenges.
• Strong stakeholder‑engagement skills with governments, Indigenous groups, NGOs, and industry.
• Strategic thinking and ability to deliver economically sound, scalable solutions.
