Head Butcher – Retail

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Head Butcher to lead our retail meat department at Galleria Supermarket in Oakville. You will oversee daily operations, ensure product quality, and provide excellent service to our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and prepare meats for processing, including cutting carcasses, sides, quarters, and standard cuts.
• Wrap, package, weigh, and price meat, poultry, fish, and shellfish products for sale.
• Supervise and train butchers, meat cutters, and fishmongers, ensuring safety and quality standards.
• Grind meats, prepare special displays, shape and tie roasts, and fulfill special orders.
• Maintain equipment such as band saws, slicers, and power grinders.

Required profile

• Accurate and organized with strong attention to detail.
• Dependable team player with leadership abilities.
• Capable of working under pressure in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment.
• Ability to handle heavy loads and stand for extended periods.

Required skills

• Proficiency with a band saw.
• Experience using a power grinder.
• Operation of a slicing machine.
• Use of manual cutting utensils.
