Global Patient Safety Physician

About the role

AstraZeneca is seeking a Global Patient Safety Physician to join its Vaccines and Immune Therapies therapeutic area. The role will shape clinical safety strategy for drug projects from development through market launch, supporting the company’s mission to deliver lasting immunity worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Define and communicate clinical safety strategies, including risk identification, mitigation, and go/no‑go criteria.
• Develop safety submission plans, respond to regulatory queries, and contribute to benefit‑risk assessments.
• Provide medical expertise for safety specifications, pharmacovigilance plans, and risk‑minimisation activities.
• Represent patient safety on cross‑functional project teams and ensure appropriate implementation of risk‑minimisation measures.
• Review and approve clinical documents such as investigator brochures, protocols, and informed‑consent forms.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification or equivalent experience in clinical safety or pharmacovigilance.
• Extensive experience in drug development, regulatory safety requirements, and risk management.
• Strong ability to communicate complex safety information to multidisciplinary teams and senior leadership.
• Proven track record of influencing safety strategy across global projects.
