General Practitioner with Anaesthetics – Remote Island Role

About the role

We are seeking a fully qualified General Practitioner with strong anaesthetic experience to join the Medical Officer Rota on Tristan da Cunha for 2025. The role involves delivering comprehensive primary care, obstetric services and public health initiatives to the island’s residents while supporting telehealth links with external specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Provide all general medical, anaesthetic and obstetric care for the island population in line with the TDC Medical Department Policy.
• Develop and implement public‑health strategies to improve community health and address lifestyle challenges.
• Maintain and expand telehealth connections with visiting specialists and remote support services.
• Coordinate health measures for visiting vessels to prevent ship‑borne diseases.
• Contribute to the Strategic Development Plan and review health policies as requested by the Head of Department.

Required profile

• Fully registered with the UK General Medical Council or an equivalent medical board.
• Minimum 10 years post‑qualification experience as a General Practitioner.
• Proven experience in anaesthetics, obstetrics and general medicine.
