General Manager (Contract)

About the role

Indigo is hiring a General Manager (contract) for a store in Thunder Bay. The General Manager is accountable for every aspect of the store's performance, leading a team to deliver an exceptional customer experience and ensuring the store meets or exceeds its sales and profitability goals. The role also builds a store culture that supports employee engagement, growth and development.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate Indigo's mission, strategy and business goals to the store team
• Meet strategic priorities, sales goals and profitability targets by improving sales and the omnichannel customer experience, controlling expenses and managing inventory and shrink
• Advocate for the customer in all decisions, identify local market trends and competitors, and champion technology that delivers high-tech, high-touch solutions
• Lead regular Visual Merchandising Assessments, review product flow and allocate resources to visual changeovers and initiatives
• Assess staffing levels, recruit and select new employees, own the store schedule, and open and close the store
• Ensure health and safety of employees and customers and compliance with provincial health and safety policies
• Build strong teams, give authentic performance feedback, set clear objectives, and foster a culture of learning, risk-taking and change

Required profile

• College degree preferred or equivalent job experience
• 6+ years of management experience in specialty retail and/or multi-unit retail, including leading leaders
• Ability to stay on the sales floor for extended periods
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays
• Able to lift medium to large items up to 40 pounds with proper equipment and safety techniques
• Bilingualism (French/English) is required for all positions in Quebec
