Food Services Officer

About the role

The Food Services Officer supports the Associate Director, Food and Dining in driving continuous improvement across McGill's food service operations. Working in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment, the officer ensures compliance with Quebec food safety regulations and university standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular in‑person audits of food handling, storage, preparation, and sanitation to verify compliance with MAPAQ standards and internal protocols.
• Document audit findings and recommendations using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Collaborate with chefs, food managers, and service staff to implement corrective actions and improvement plans.
• Coordinate with SHHS Facilities and McGill FMAS to schedule repairs and maintenance of food‑service equipment.
• Track maintenance issues that affect food safety or operational efficiency and report them to senior management.
• Provide training and guidance on food‑safety best practices and regulatory updates.
• Develop audit frameworks, performance metrics, and analytical reports to support strategic decision‑making.
• Liaise with Human Resources and other departments on matters impacting food‑service operations.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and judgment skills applied to food‑service environments.
• Experience conducting food‑safety audits and working with regulatory bodies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
