Food Safety, Quality and Sanitation Manager

About the role

UP Vertical Farms is seeking a Food Safety, Quality and Sanitation Manager to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of food safety systems, quality assurance programs, and sanitation protocols across all production, harvesting, and packaging operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and monitor food safety and quality management systems that meet internal standards and federal/provincial regulations.
• Lead internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with HACCP, GMP, and other relevant standards.
• Develop and enforce sanitation procedures for the indoor vertical farming facility.
• Collaborate with Operations, HR, Accounting, Grow and R&D teams to integrate safety and quality practices.
• Train and mentor staff on food safety, quality, and sanitation best practices.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in food production, agriculture, or manufacturing environments.
• Deep knowledge of Canadian food safety regulations and audit requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
