Food Safety and Quality Manager

About the role

O Foods is seeking a Food Safety & Quality Manager to lead food safety and quality execution at its advanced oat mill west of Winnipeg. Reporting to the General Manager, you will be part of the plant leadership team, driving continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise QA Technicians and ensure consistent, efficient task execution.
• Develop, lead, and coach the quality team, handling talent, performance, and discipline decisions.
• Establish, implement, and improve product quality and food safety standards, specifications, processes, and methodologies.
• Ensure product labeling accuracy to meet governmental and customer requirements.
• Lead cross‑functional hazard analyses, identify CCPs, set critical limits, and monitor corrective actions.
• Prepare quality documentation, reports, and KPI summaries, including stability studies and complaint trends.
• Manage external third‑party audits, coach managers, and verify CAPA completion.
• Conduct internal audits, prepare for customer and regulatory visits, and monitor sanitation and environmental swabbing programs.
• Participate in capital projects to ensure food safety standards are integrated.
• Collaborate with industry groups, government agencies, suppliers, and customers on quality and safety matters.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in a food‑related discipline.
• Experience supervising QA staff and leading cross‑functional teams.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain quality systems and regulatory compliance.

Required skills

• Hazard analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) implementation.
• Audit planning and execution (internal, external, customer, regulatory).
• Regulatory compliance and labeling accuracy.
• CAPA management and corrective action tracking.
• Environmental swabbing and sanitation monitoring.
