First Cook

About the role

We are seeking a First Cook to join our crew aboard the M/V Saga, based in Squamish, BC. The role involves preparing and cooking meals for crew and guests in a shipboard environment, ensuring quality, safety and timely service.

Key responsibilities

• Determine portion sizes, calculate food costs and plan menus.
• Requisition food and kitchen supplies and maintain inventory records.
• Prepare and cook complete meals, individual dishes and special meals for guests with allergies or intolerances.
• Inspect kitchens and food service areas to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Train, supervise and support kitchen staff and helpers.
• Organise buffets, banquets and maintain clean work areas.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation (high school) certificate.
• 2 to less than 3 years of experience as a cook in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment.
• Strong attention to detail, organized and reliable.
• Ability to work long periods standing and handle repetitive tasks.
