Financial Worker – Income Assistance Services

About the role

The Financial Worker joins a team delivering Income Assistance supports and services for Manitoba residents. This position ensures accurate benefit calculations, disbursements, and client communications in line with provincial legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with clients, agencies, and stakeholders to gather information, answer inquiries, and explain policies.
• Calculate, process, and issue benefits according to the Manitoba Assistance Act and Disability Support Act.
• Review, recommend, and authorize expenditures for health, special needs, minor repairs, and medical travel.
• Enter and maintain electronic client budget data, process bill payments, and perform related clerical duties.
• Uphold client confidentiality and adhere to program guidelines.

Required profile

• Experience assessing and verifying information to determine program eligibility.
• Experience working with diverse populations, including persons with disabilities and financially disadvantaged individuals.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.
• Experience disbursing funds according to policy guidelines.
• Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality.
