Financial Controller (Hybrid, Montreal)

About the role

MOOV is seeking a hands‑on Financial Controller to ensure the accuracy and clarity of its financial operations. Based in Montreal, this hybrid position combines full‑cycle accounting responsibilities with strategic analysis to support ownership and operational teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end closing processes, including reconciliations.
• Maintain the general ledger, record accruals, prepaid expenses, and journal entries.
• Oversee customer billing, receivables, overdue balances, and resolve billing disputes.
• Manage carrier and vendor invoices, payment schedules, and account reconciliations.
• Administer employee payroll, deductions, benefits, and year‑end reporting.
• Ensure accurate recording of shipment revenue, costs, and margin analysis.
• Prepare cash‑flow forecasts, budgets, and variance reports.
• Support GST, HST, QST tax filings, audits, and year‑end reporting.
• Handle Canadian and U.S. transactions, multiple currencies, and foreign‑exchange reconciliations.
• Strengthen financial controls and improve accounting processes as the company scales.

Required profile

• Proven experience preparing monthly financial statements.
• Strong understanding of the full accounting cycle, including month‑end close, AR, AP, payroll, and reconciliations.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to investigate discrepancies.
• Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to meet recurring deadlines.
• Degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA designation or progress is a plus.
• Experience in logistics, transportation, or high‑volume environments is an asset.
