Financial Controller (Hybrid, Montreal)

About the role

Taiga Motors is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its rapidly scaling off‑road electric vehicle business. Based in Montreal, the role operates on a hybrid schedule with two to three days per week in the office and reports directly to the CFO.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger management.
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements and coordinate regulatory reporting.
• Lead month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes while ensuring quality control over transactions and reporting.
• Manage compliance with local, state, and federal tax filing requirements.
• Develop and enforce internal control policies and procedures.
• Liaise with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
• Mentor and develop the internal accounting team.

Required profile

• CPA designation.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a controller, assistant controller, or accounting manager role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS.
• Experience in manufacturing or large‑inventory environments.
• Advanced degree in Accounting preferred.
• Audit experience at a Big Four firm is strongly preferred.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and French.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems, specifically NetSuite.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Hands‑on experience documenting and automating month‑end close processes.
