Financial Controller – Childcare Platform

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Controller to build and lead the finance function of a fast‑growing childcare and early‑education platform operating in Ontario and Quebec. Reporting directly to the Partners, you will own the financial health of multiple centres and ensure strict compliance with provincial funding models.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain CWELCC budget discipline, tracking weekly variance against provincial funding and preventing clawbacks or overspend.
• Own full financial reporting for each centre, including monthly close, P&L, balance sheet, working capital, payroll integrity, AP/AR oversight, cash management and inter‑company loan tracking.
• Prepare and deliver lender reports, ensuring covenant compliance across all debt facilities.
• Develop forecasts and reporting cadences that align with internal and external stakeholders.
• Integrate newly acquired centres into the finance function, standardising processes and internal controls.

Required profile

• Proactive self‑starter who takes full accountability for the finance function.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to form and communicate opinions on cost structure, funding optimisation and internal controls.
• Experience managing finance for multi‑site operations, preferably with government‑funded programmes.
• Comfort working closely with centre administrators and senior partners.
