Finance Officer – Research Grants Management

About the role

The Finance Officer (Research funds) supports the Faculty of Engineering Financial Services Team by overseeing post‑award administration of research grants and contracts. The role ensures financial processes align with university policies, sponsor requirements, and best practices, providing expert guidance to Principal Investigators.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise a team of six Faculty Research Finance Administrators, providing direction, training, and performance evaluation.
• Manage post‑award research grant finances, including journal entries, budget transfers, and compliance reviews.
• Advise Principal Investigators on budget availability, admissible expenditures, and sponsor regulations.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, checklists, and templates for financial processes.
• Prepare for internal and external audits, ensuring strong internal controls and documentation.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in research finance, grants administration, or sponsored programs accounting within a higher‑education environment.
• Fluent in English and French (verbal and written).
• Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and customer‑service orientation.
