About the role
Sandvik Mining is looking for a licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic to join its Field Service team in British Columbia. The role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining surface mining equipment, as well as commissioning new equipment and providing on‑site training to customers.
Key responsibilities
- Inspect equipment for proper performance, identify faults and malfunctions.
- Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts, components, or systems according to the scope of work.
- Test repaired equipment to confirm operational performance.
- Commission new equipment and deliver training at customer sites.
- Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives and complete accurate technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.
- Maintain compliance with environmental, health, and safety policies, perform risk assessments, and report unsafe conditions.
Required profile
- Relevant trade certification (red seal considered an asset).
- At least three years of experience with mining equipment.
- Proficiency in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical issues on mining equipment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy (MS Office).
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to mine sites across Canada.
- Eligibility to work in Canada and ability to work varied shifts.
