Field Engineer – Geotechnical/Civil (Western Canada)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Geotechnical/Civil Field Engineer to support construction and geotechnical projects across Western Canada on a contract basis. The role is field‑based, requiring regular travel to active construction sites in Alberta, British Columbia and potentially other regions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform on‑site constructability reviews during construction activities.
• Conduct field inspections and QA/QC activities for geotechnical and civil works.
• Coordinate testing and verification of geotechnical systems and installations.
• Monitor construction to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings and design intent.
• Prepare field reports, inspection records, testing documentation and daily summaries.
• Communicate directly with clients, contractors, suppliers and project stakeholders.
• Identify field issues and develop practical construction solutions.
• Support project planning, execution and close‑out activities and participate in site meetings.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Technology or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in construction oversight, field engineering or geotechnical inspection.
• Working knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and construction practices.
• Experience performing QA/QC inspections and preparing field documentation.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and construction documents.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel extensively.
• Physically capable of working in challenging outdoor environments.
