Fabrication Welder – Custom Metal Fabrication

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Welder to join our team at Labria Steel Fabrications & Designs Inc. in Concord, Ontario. The role involves custom metal fabrication for industrial, residential and ornamental projects, working in outdoor, dusty and noisy environments.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret welding process specifications and read blueprints, drawings and manuals.
• Operate manual, semi‑automatic and fully‑automated welding equipment, as well as flame‑cutting and metal‑shaping machines.
• Examine welds to ensure they meet standards and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipment.
• Fit, braze, torch‑straighten metal and operate hoisting, lifting and forklift equipment.
• Train or assist in training other workers and maintain tools and safety gear.

Required profile

• Registered Apprenticeship certificate or equivalent experience (3‑5 years).
• WHMIS and Forklift Operator certifications.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot, noisy, dusty conditions and handle up to 20 lb loads.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel (expenses covered).

Required skills

• Oxy‑acetylene welding (OAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW).
• Operation of arc welding machines, gas welding machines and spot welding machines.
• Manual and semi‑automatic welding equipment, flame‑cutting equipment, brakes, shears and metal‑shaping tools.
• Hoisting, lifting and forklift operation.
• Reading and interpreting welding blueprints and specifications.
