External Audit Senior Manager

About the role

PwC Canada is hiring an External Audit Senior Manager in Calgary to lead client-facing assurance teams. The role covers a range of assurance services and business advice for clients from small, fast-growing companies to large, internationally known brands, using technology to reduce manual testing and strengthen corporate governance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead client-facing teams and coach staff development
• Examine financial and accounting records, documents and processes, and ask formal and informal questions of senior client personnel
• Resolve conflicts and manage stakeholder expectations at all levels
• Walk through design effectiveness and test the operational effectiveness of client internal controls
• Make judgments on testing approaches for significant accounting estimates and verify and test financial statements and disclosures
• Instruct milestone training courses, prepare and deliver competitive audit proposals, and network in the local business community
• Build technical expertise through reports, presentations and high-quality deliverables

Required profile

• Demonstrated progressive experience at Senior Manager level with external audit clients in a professional services firm
• Qualified Canadian CPA or equivalent reciprocal/recognized designation
• Strong understanding of Canadian and U.S. auditing standards and/or PCAOB standards; knowledge of IFRS, ASPE and US GAAP is an asset
• Experience designing engagement procedures based on risk and materiality, and coaching and directing engagement teams
• Excellent project management, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

The salary range is $97,800 - $147,800, with possible variable incentive pay. Eligible employees may also access a total rewards package.
