External Audit, Senior Associate, NPO Community

About the role

PwC Canada is hiring a Senior Associate for its External Audit practice in the NPO Community, based in Calgary. You will deliver assurance services to non-profit organizations of all sizes across Canada, working in client-facing teams supported by a national network and a global acceleration centre. The role is described as newly created.

Key responsibilities

• Work as part of client-facing teams and collaborate closely with the global acceleration team
• Help develop the audit approach and complete planning procedures
• Coach and give feedback to junior members of the engagement team
• Review financial and accounting records, documents and tangible items such as inventory, plant and equipment, and observe processes
• Ask formal written and informal oral questions of individuals at the client organization
• Test internal controls and assess significant estimates, judgments or assumptions made by management
• Verify and test financial statements and supporting disclosures, and perform completion procedures before issuing the audit report

Required profile

• Demonstrated progressive experience at Senior Associate level with external audit clients in a professional services firm
• Qualified Canadian CPA or equivalent reciprocal or recognized designation
• Excellent understanding of Canadian auditing standards
• Previous experience auditing not-for-profit or charity organizations
• Experience designing engagement procedures based on risk and materiality, and coaching and leading engagement teams
• Project management experience

Required skills

• Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (considered an asset)
• Knowledge of applicable accounting reporting and auditing standards
• Excellent oral and written communication and teamwork skills

The salary range is $52,200 - $87,000, with possible variable incentive pay for eligible employees. The role does not accept work visa sponsorship.
