Ethnic Food Cook

About the role

The Ethnic Food Cook will join a busy restaurant kitchen in Toronto, preparing a variety of culturally diverse dishes. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality meals while managing portion sizes, costs, and special dietary requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Determine portion sizes and calculate food costs.
• Plan menus and estimate food requirements.
• Order food and kitchen supplies.
• Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes.
• Adapt dishes for customers with allergies or intolerances.
• Prepare special meals as directed by a dietitian or senior chef.
• Inspect kitchen and food service areas for cleanliness and safety.
• Train and supervise kitchen staff, helpers, and specialist chefs.
• Maintain inventory records of food, supplies, and equipment.
• Oversee overall kitchen operations and ensure efficient workflow.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation certificate.
• 2–3 years of experience working in a restaurant kitchen.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Dependable, flexible, initiative‑taking, and a good team player.
