Emerging Leader in Computational Oncology (Canada Impact+)

About the role

The Department of Urologic Sciences at the University of British Columbia invites an early‑career researcher to join as an Assistant Professor and Senior Research Scientist. The successful candidate will lead an independent computational oncology program focused on quantitative and machine‑learning methods, integrating single‑cell genomics and spatial profiling to study cancer evolution, therapy resistance and immune escape in urologic cancers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead a research program that creates AI‑driven models, Bayesian generative approaches and phylogenetic tools for multi‑omics cancer data.
• Collaborate with clinicians and experimental scientists to translate computational findings into biomarkers, therapeutic targets and decision‑support insights.
• Teach undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate courses, and mentor students and post‑doctoral fellows.
• Provide service to the university through peer review, committee work and initiative development.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or a closely related field.
• Early‑career researcher eligible for a full‑time, tenure‑stream Assistant Professor appointment.
• Demonstrated research focus on quantitative modelling of cancer evolution using single‑cell genomics or longitudinal data.
• History of collaboration with clinicians and experimental scientists on patient‑linked cohorts.
