About the role

Join the collegial emergency medicine team at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake, BC. The 24/7 emergency department sees roughly 22,000 visits annually, offering a diverse case mix and ample procedural experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide acute care to patients presenting to the emergency department, managing a broad spectrum of medical, surgical, obstetric and psychiatric emergencies.
• Collaborate with internal medicine, obstetrics & gynecology, general surgery, pediatrics and psychiatry specialists.
• Participate in teaching and mentorship of medical students and residents through the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s rural program.
• Contribute to quality improvement and departmental initiatives, including the upcoming CMH redevelopment.
• Engage in leadership development opportunities such as Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Emerging Physician Leaders Program.

Required profile

• Canadian Certified Family Physician (CCFP) or CCFP in Emergency Medicine, or Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (FRCPC) in Emergency Medicine.
• Eligibility to practice medicine in British Columbia.
• Commitment to serving a rural community and interest in teaching.
