Emergency Medicine Physician – Williams Lake, BC

About the role

Join a collegial emergency medicine team at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake, BC. The 24/7 emergency department sees roughly 22,000 visits annually, offering a diverse case mix and numerous procedural opportunities. You will also have the chance to teach medical students and residents through the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s rural teaching program.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency care to a high-volume patient population.
• Perform a wide range of emergency procedures and manage acute medical conditions.
• Collaborate with specialists in internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, pediatrics, and psychiatry.
• Mentor and teach medical students and residents as part of the rural teaching program.
• Participate in leadership development initiatives such as the NAVIG8 Emerging Physician Leaders Program.
• Contribute to the ongoing redevelopment of the hospital’s emergency department and future expansion projects.

Required profile

• Current CCFP, CCFP (EM), or FRCPC certification in Emergency Medicine.
• Eligibility to practice medicine in Canada.
• Emergency department experience is an asset, but mentorship is available for new graduates and international medical graduates.
• Commitment to community-based practice and teaching.
