Emergency Medicine Physician – Williams Lake, BC

About the role

Join a collegial emergency medicine team at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake. Our 24/7 emergency department sees roughly 22,000 visits each year, offering a diverse case mix and many procedural opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency care to patients of all ages in a fast‑paced, 24/7 environment.
• Collaborate with specialists in internal medicine, obstetrics & gynecology, general surgery, pediatrics, and psychiatry.
• Teach and mentor medical students and residents through the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s rural teaching program.
• Participate in leadership development opportunities such as Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Emerging Physician Leaders Program.
• Contribute to the upcoming hospital redevelopment that will expand the emergency department to 23 treatment spaces.

Required profile

• Current certification in Emergency Medicine (CCFP, CCFP‑EM, or FRCPC).
• Eligibility for practice in British Columbia.
• Willingness to work in a community hospital setting; emergency experience is an asset but mentorship is provided for new graduates and international medical graduates.

Required skills

• Emergency medicine clinical competence and procedural skills.
• Certification in CCFP, CCFP‑EM, or FRCPC.
