Emergency Medicine Physician – Kelowna General Hospital

About the role

Join the dynamic Emergency Department at Kelowna General Hospital, a tertiary referral centre serving over 100,000 annual ED visits. As an Emergency Medicine Physician you will provide high‑quality acute care to a diverse patient population in a vibrant, four‑season community.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage emergency presentations ranging from trauma to complex medical cases.
• Lead cardiac critical care interventions, including ECMO, coronary revascularisation and endovascular thrombectomy support.
• Participate in stroke and trauma resuscitations as a senior team member.
• Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents and medical students.
• Contribute to the academic environment through bedside teaching, simulation and Grand Rounds.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine (FRCPC or equivalent).
• Experience in a high‑volume, Level 2 Trauma Centre preferred.
• Commitment to teamwork, mentorship and continuous learning.
• Interest in academic activities and teaching.

Required skills

• ECMO operation and monitoring.
• Trauma resuscitation techniques.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) proficiency.
• Stroke management protocols.
