EH&S Engineer III – 12 Month Contract

About the role

Excelitas Technologies is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety Engineer III to provide maternity‑leave coverage for a 12‑month contract at its Mississauga site. The incumbent will lead the strategic planning, administration and compliance of all EH&S activities, ensuring the site meets ISO 14001:2015 certification and relevant local and global regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Advise management on EH&S program status, develop incident‑reduction strategies and ensure compliance with local permits.
• Maintain ISO 14001:2015 certification, host customer and registrar audits, and conduct management reviews.
• Develop and implement procedures for machine safety, LOTO, confined space, WHMIS, TDG, PPE, ergonomics, emergency response, asbestos, legionella, ventilation, electrical safety, forklift, and more.
• Lead training programs, maintain the training matrix, and act as trainer for various EH&S topics.
• Monitor EU REACH, RoHS and other global regulations, assess product compliance and prepare conformance letters.
• Lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee, manage safety observations, conduct inspections and ergonomics evaluations.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as an Environment, Health & Safety specialist or engineer.
• Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Working knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 (certified lead auditor preferred) and OHSAS 18001.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
