Educational Assistant – Support Students in Literacy & Numeracy

About the role

The Educational Assistant joins the La Crete Public School team to help students achieve the division’s priorities in numeracy, literacy, connectivity and careers. Working under the direction of school administration, you will support learners in classroom settings, small groups and one‑on‑one sessions, especially those with complex needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide targeted assistance to students in literacy and mathematics (K‑9) within inclusive classrooms.
• Deliver social‑emotional support and interventions aligned with the Science of Reading.
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff and parents while maintaining confidentiality.
• Adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
• Participate in school meetings and contribute to the development of individualized support plans.

Required profile

• Grade 12 diploma.
• Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent.
• Understanding of the Science of Reading, literacy interventions, K‑9 mathematics and social‑emotional supports.
• Experience working with students in a school environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively and handle confidential information.
