Child and Youth Worker – Group Home

About the role

The Developmental Disabilities Association is seeking a compassionate Child and Youth Worker to join our team in a group home setting. You will develop and implement child‑care programs that foster physical, cognitive, emotional and social growth for children with intellectual disabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver daily activities such as storytelling, music, art, and outings to local points of interest.
• Maintain a safe, healthy environment that protects children’s well‑being.
• Collaborate with co‑workers and community service providers to support each child’s needs.
• Document program outcomes and adjust plans to promote continuous development.

Required profile

• Other trades certificate or diploma.
• 1‑2 years experience working with children, preferably those with intellectual disabilities.
• Certificates: Emergency child‑care first aid & CPR, Non‑violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI).
• Clear criminal record check; ability to bend, crouch and kneel as part of duties.
