Economic Empowerment Program Intern

About the role

Global Aid Network Canada (GAiN) is a non-profit humanitarian relief and development organization whose Economic Empowerment strategy aims to improve living incomes by supporting early-stage small-scale startups, a microfinance program, a small business accelerator and vocational training. As a full-time Economic Empowerment Program Intern, you report to the Economic Empowerment Program Manager and work with local partners to research, develop and test pilot projects. The position is based in Abbotsford, BC, with remote work options.

Key responsibilities

• Implement program activities effectively and efficiently: complete project activities on time and within budget, collect and analyze monthly and quarterly reports from field partners, and track project expenses against plan.
• Develop new economic empowerment projects with the Program Manager and maintain productive relationships with field partners through regular meetings and site visits when needed.
• Analyze and report program results to the Program Manager and support the Donor Advancement team with reports, photos and videos for fundraising and communication materials such as stories, proposals and blogs.
• Help with other GAiN tasks and events, and pursue personal and professional growth aligned with annual staff objectives.

Required profile

• Studying International Development or Economics; previous international development experience is an asset but not required.
• A deep, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a strong interest in empowering women in developing countries and in redemptive entrepreneurship.
• Self-starter with strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, and intellectual curiosity.
• Competent to work with people of different cultures and backgrounds.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Google Suite or equivalent.
• Spanish is highly desirable.

The position is funded through Ministry Partner Development, which covers the intern's salary and ministry expenses. The organization offers training and coaching for Ministry Partner Development.
