About the role
WUSC Canada is seeking a Director of Public Engagement to lead the integration of communications, fundraising and public engagement functions. Reporting to the CEO, the role will shape strategy, protect the organization’s brand and drive revenue‑generating initiatives across a hybrid work environment in Ottawa.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and oversee a unified strategy that aligns communications, fundraising and public engagement with organisational objectives.
- Act as the final authority on brand voice, reputational risk and emergency communications.
- Liaise with the Senior Management Team, Global Leadership Team and Board on external relations and revenue generation.
- Monitor market trends and performance data to recommend improvements and pivots.
- Lead the Communications team in delivering the annual communications plan, work‑plan and budget.
- Coordinate cross‑departmental initiatives to ensure consistent messaging and mobilisation of supporters.
Required profile
- Proven strategic leadership experience in communications, fundraising or public engagement, preferably in the non‑profit or development sector.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑disciplinary teams and large budgets.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience using data to inform strategy.

- Competitive salary range of CAD 112,200‑132,000 per year.
