Director of Operations – Clinical Research & Innovative Medicine

About the role

The Director of Operations will lead the Centre for Innovative Medicine (CIM), the clinical research platform of the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre. This senior role oversees all operational aspects, strategy, and partnership development to support more than 250 investigators and industry collaborators in delivering high‑quality clinical studies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic planning and operational leadership for the CIM.
• Build, lead, and develop high‑performing teams to ensure clinical research excellence.
• Ensure financial stewardship, performance oversight, and long‑term sustainability of CIM operations.
• Lead the development, integration, and optimisation of clinical research platforms and services.
• Foster strong internal and external partnerships to advance institutional clinical research.
• Manage budget negotiations, regulatory compliance, and trial logistics.
• Oversee project management of multicentre trials, including coordination with Institute resources.
• Supervise technical platforms and research operations.
• Drive organisational change initiatives aligned with the Institute’s vision.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in clinical research operations.
• Strong strategic planning and change‑management capabilities.
• Ability to manage large budgets and navigate regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership‑building skills.
• Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams in a biomedical research environment.
