About the role
The Max Bell School of Public Policy at McGill University seeks a dynamic leader to launch and direct the new McGill Growth Lab while serving as an Assistant or Associate Professor. This three‑year, full‑time appointment offers a unique chance to shape a national centre for economic‑growth policy research and to influence public debate.
Key responsibilities
- Define and execute the strategic vision for the Growth Lab, establishing governance, operational systems, and a high‑performing research team.
- Develop and manage a portfolio of applied research projects with government, foundation, and private‑sector partners.
- Identify, cultivate, and secure funding through grant writing, proposal development, and partnership negotiations.
- Represent the Lab within the Max Bell School, the wider university, and external policy networks.
- Oversee project design, delivery, and client engagement, ensuring high‑quality outputs and compliance with university policies.
Required profile
- Doctoral degree in economics, public policy, or a related field.
- Strong record of scholarly research and publications on economic growth or related policy issues.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in building research teams or centres.
- Proven success in securing external funding and managing large‑scale projects.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging academic, governmental, and private stakeholders.
