Research Assistant – Language Technology Literacy

About the role
The School of Continuing Studies, Technology and Innovation at McGill University seeks a part‑time Research Assistant to support a project on literacy technolinguistique in minority‑language contexts. The role runs from September 2026 to May 2027, offering 16 hours per week in the fall and 24 hours per week in the spring, on site at 680 Sherbrooke West.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and manage research ethics (REB) submissions, amendments and renewals.
- Develop and implement participant recruitment strategies and materials.
- Recruit participants, schedule interviews, focus groups and training sessions.
- Administer surveys, focus groups, interviews and maintain accurate research records.
- Conduct literature reviews and environmental scans related to language‑technology literacy.
- Assist with quantitative and qualitative data analysis using appropriate software.
- Support piloting of online training materials and prepare research summaries, reports and presentations.
- Participate in knowledge‑mobilisation activities, including conference presentations and stakeholder communications.
- Perform translation, linguistic revision and terminology tasks as needed.
Required profile
- Enrolled or recent graduate in linguistics, education, information science or a related field.
- Ability to work under the supervision of a Principal Investigator and collaborate with academic partners.
- Strong organizational skills for coordinating multiple research activities.
- Excellent written communication in both French and English.
Required skills
- Experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
- Familiarity with research ethics procedures and survey administration.
