Director of Data – Lead Strategy & AI Integration

About the role

Pebl is seeking a highly technical, deeply analytical, and aggressively innovative Director of Data to shape our data strategy, infrastructure, and AI integration. Based in Toronto with collaboration days in Palo Alto, you will bridge R&D and core business functions to make global employment and compliance data secure, accessible, and actionable.

Key responsibilities

• Own the vision and execution of Pebl’s modern data infrastructure, ensuring scalable, performant, and reliable pipelines.
• Champion strict data security, privacy, and governance for global payroll, HR, and compliance data.
• Transform complex datasets into actionable strategies for Marketing, Sales, Operations, Finance, and Legal.
• Lead the “AI Everywhere” initiative, embedding AI capabilities into product offerings and internal workflows.
• Translate technical work into compelling business narratives for executives and the board.

Required profile

• 15+ years in data engineering, data science, or analytics with at least 5 years in senior leadership.
• Proven ability to collaborate cross‑functionally and tie data initiatives to top‑line growth and bottom‑line efficiency.
• Exceptional communication skills for storytelling to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to work onsite in Toronto Monday through Wednesday.
