Director of Care – New Long-Term Care Home

About the role
Andrews Senior Care is launching a brand‑new 90‑bed long‑term care home in Charlottetown and seeks a Director of Care (Registered Nurse) to lead the clinical team from day one. Reporting to the Director of Nursing, you will translate proven policies and staffing models into daily practice while ensuring resident care remains the top priority.
Key responsibilities
- Build and nurture a positive team culture for the new facility, guiding hiring, onboarding and ongoing development of RNs, LPNs and caregivers.
- Implement established staffing models, workflows and care standards to meet provincial legislation and Accreditation Canada benchmarks.
- Execute the opening readiness plan in partnership with the Director of Nursing and General Manager, coordinating space planning, equipment and logistics.
- Provide strategic oversight to the Community Care Manager of the existing 80‑bed home, maintaining consistent standards across both sites.
- Lead quality‑improvement initiatives, audits and risk‑management activities, preparing for inspections and ongoing accreditation readiness.
- Foster strong relationships with residents, families and interdisciplinary staff to develop individualized care plans and respond to evolving needs.
Required profile
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the College of Registered Nurses of Prince Edward Island.
- Proven leadership experience in long‑term care or a comparable healthcare setting; experience opening a new care home is a strong asset.
- Excellent clinical judgment, strong organizational skills and the ability to follow through on complex initiatives.
- Collaborative leadership style with a talent for building positive relationships with residents, families and team members.
- Capacity to balance resident‑centered care with operational and staffing demands in a busy environment.

- Competitive salary ranging from $100,000 to $110,000 CAD per year, based on experience.
