Director, Income Tax Advisory

About the role

Air Canada is seeking a Director of Income Tax Advisory to provide enterprise‑wide leadership on complex international tax strategy, corporate structuring, and major transformational transactions. The role supports the airline’s global expansion, financing initiatives, acquisitions, and new business ventures.

Key responsibilities

• Lead tax strategy for major transactions, including global financings, refinancings and acquisitions.
• Define tax implications of international expansion, new routes, products and non‑air initiatives.
• Design and implement efficient corporate structures to minimize effective tax rate and cash tax while ensuring compliance.
• Represent Air Canada in negotiations with governmental and regulatory authorities.
• Monitor and respond to emerging international tax regimes such as Digital Services Taxes and Pillar Two.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Network Planning, Commercial, Loyalty, Operations, IT and external advisors.
• Coordinate with the Director of Income Tax on compliance aspects of new tax developments and business initiatives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in international tax advisory, preferably within a large multinational or airline environment.
• Proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive enterprise‑wide tax initiatives.
• Strong understanding of corporate finance, structuring and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with governmental bodies.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of international tax law, including Digital Services Taxes and OECD Pillar Two.
• Expertise in corporate structuring and tax optimization.
• Ability to assess tax risks and provide executive‑level counsel.
