Director, Child & Family Services (DFNA)

About the role

Horelyu Dene Ts’edi Kue is seeking an experienced, values‑driven Director to provide senior leadership for its child and family services programs, ensuring they are culturally grounded, trauma‑informed and focused on positive outcomes for children, youth and families.

Key responsibilities

• Providing strategic and operational leadership across DFNA programs, services and teams.
• Working closely with the CEO and Board to support strategic planning, policy development and organizational priorities.
• Leading and developing managers, supervisors and staff while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous learning.
• Leading workforce planning, succession management and leadership development to strengthen organizational capacity.
• Establishing and monitoring performance measures and using program outcomes to guide decision‑making and continuous improvement.
• Developing community‑based child and family service models grounded in Indigenous values and the principles of Bill C‑92.
• Identifying emerging needs and service gaps and creating culturally responsive programs.
• Providing financial leadership through budgeting, forecasting, resource allocation and funding accountability.
• Ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations and policies including CYFEA and Bill C‑92.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with Chief and Council, Elders, community members, government representatives and partners.

Required profile

• Experienced senior leader with deep respect for Indigenous culture, community and relationships.
• Strong judgment and confidence to make difficult decisions while remaining approachable and accountable.
• Proven ability to develop people and navigate both strategic discussions and frontline service delivery.
• Commitment to listening to community and recognizing the role of family, Elders, culture, land and identity.
• Comfort leading within an evolving organization, strengthening systems, improving processes and managing change.
