Women's Shelter Manager

About the role

Horelyu Dene Ts’edi Kue is seeking an experienced Women’s Shelter Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operations of its 24/7 women’s shelter in Cold Lake. This hands‑on leadership role ensures a safe, trauma‑informed, and culturally appropriate environment for women accessing shelter services.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily shelter operations, including resident intake, admissions, safety planning, and discharge processes.
• Supervise, schedule, and provide direction to Shelter Attendants to maintain 24/7 coverage.
• Address staffing, attendance, and operational issues as they arise.
• Maintain accurate resident files, shift logs, incident reports, and other required documentation.
• Lead during resident crises, serious incidents, and emergencies while ensuring policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality standards are followed.
• Collaborate with Family Support and other programs to connect residents with appropriate services and resources.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in shelter services, family violence, crisis intervention, social services, housing, or a related field.
• Previous supervisory or management experience in a residential, shelter, or 24/7 service environment.
• Degree or diploma in Social Work, Human Services, Community Services, Indigenous Studies, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong leadership, communication, judgment, problem‑solving, and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Experience supporting women experiencing violence, homelessness, trauma, or other complex circumstances.
• Knowledge of trauma‑informed and culturally safe practices; experience with First Nations communities is an asset.
