About the role
The West Moberly First Nations community is seeking a Desjarlais Family Representative to preserve, promote, and revitalize its language, culture, heritage, and wellness. This full‑time, on‑site position works closely with Elders, community members, and internal departments to create meaningful cultural programs and services.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and implement cultural initiatives, including those funded by the Four Pillars program and the Comprehensive Community Plan.
- Use technology to document, archive, and share materials related to West Moberly languages, cultures, and wellness.
- Collaborate with various departments to integrate cultural traditions and ensure Indigenous data sovereignty.
- Develop and deliver opportunities for members to engage in traditional practices.
- Facilitate and administer cultural programs that revitalize language, heritage, and wellness.
- Coordinate Elders and Youth meetings and partner with other departments to deliver impactful programs.
- Secure additional funding, oversee program implementation, and manage reporting requirements.
- Create and promote event calendars and increase awareness of programs among Family Groups.
Required profile
- Member of the West Moberly First Nation.
- Resident of the lake area, Chetwynd, Hudson Hope, or surrounding communities.
- Passion for Indigenous cultural preservation and community engagement.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Elders, youth, and multiple internal teams.
Required skills
- Proficiency with digital tools for documentation and sharing of cultural content.
- Strong organizational and coordination abilities.
What we offer
- 35‑hour work week with alternating Fridays off.
- Hourly wage between $31‑$37 CAD.
