Crisis Response Nurse – Mental Health & Substance Use

About the role

Join Vancouver Coastal Health as a Crisis Response Nurse on the Mental Health & Substance Use – Car Program team at the HOpe Center in North Vancouver. You will provide urgent, client‑centred care to individuals experiencing mental health or substance‑use crises, working within a multidisciplinary environment that values learning and quality care.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct assessments, screening, triage and case management for adults or youth experiencing mental health or substance‑use emergencies.
• Deliver mobile crisis response, facilitate hospital or detox admissions, and provide crisis‑intervention counseling.
• Develop treatment plans, coordinate referrals, and maintain accurate client records.
• Collaborate with families, law enforcement, schools, physicians, and emergency‑room staff to ensure integrated care.
• Participate in case conferences, team meetings, continuing education and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
• At least three years recent experience delivering mental health and substance‑use services, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Valid British Columbia driver’s licence.
