Credit Counsellor – Hybrid (Halifax)

About the role

CCS is seeking a passionate Credit Counsellor to work on a hybrid basis in Halifax. You will guide clients through financial challenges, helping them manage debt, overcome barriers, and achieve their financial goals.

Key responsibilities

• Assess clients' financial situations, clarifying income, expenses, and debt obligations.
• Provide personalized strategies and options for effective debt management and resolution.
• Offer ongoing support through a Debt Management Program that includes interest relief.
• Serve as a trusted resource, answering questions and following up to keep clients on track toward financial stability.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary degree or diploma (asset but not required).
• Three to five years of experience in financial services, counselling, social services, or related fields.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine desire to help people.
• Goal‑oriented mindset, motivated by achieving objectives and supporting others.
• Strong ability to influence, guide, and address client concerns.
• Organizational skills to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively; flexibility to work variable shifts between 8:30 AM and 8:00 PM, including six Saturday shifts per year.
