Course Lecturer – Music Curriculum & Instruction for Generalists

About the role

McGill University’s Department of Integrated Studies in Education is seeking a Course Lecturer for the Fall 2026 term to teach EDEA 345-001/002, “Music Curriculum and Instruction for Generalists.” The lecturer will deliver a three‑credit, on‑site course that explores musical concepts, instructional techniques, and curriculum development for pre‑service teachers.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess weekly lectures and workshops on music education theory and practice.
• Facilitate student participation through singing, movement, listening activities, and discussion.
• Guide students in lesson planning, material selection, and implementation aligned with Quebec Education Program guidelines.
• Maintain course materials, grading, and documentation in the MyCourses platform.
• Attend coordination and planning meetings at least two weeks before the course start date.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Music Education or a related field.
• Teaching qualification and proven experience teaching music in Quebec elementary or secondary schools.
• Strong knowledge of the Quebec Education Program and Ministry of Education competencies.
• Commitment to collaborative work with a team of instructors.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MyCourses or similar learning management systems.
• Experience using Zoom and other online/blended teaching platforms.
• Technology skills to support classroom and digital instruction.
• Understanding of equity and diversity issues in education.
