About the role
The Department of Jewish Studies at McGill University seeks a qualified Course Lecturer to teach Introductory Hebrew (JWST 220 D1) in the fall term of 2026. The position involves delivering in‑person instruction to undergraduate students, fostering basic Hebrew language skills, and contributing to the department’s academic mission.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver two weekly 80‑minute lectures (Tuesday and Thursday) in Leacock Building, Room 721.
- Design course materials, assignments, and assessments aligned with the curriculum.
- Provide timely feedback and grades to students.
- Maintain attendance records and comply with university teaching policies.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to course evaluation.
Required profile
- Advanced academic degree (preferably a PhD) in a field relevant to Hebrew language instruction.
- Extensive experience teaching Hebrew, with a strong command of both spoken and written forms.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work on the Montreal campus.
