About the role

The Department of History and Classical Studies at McGill University is seeking a qualified lecturer to teach HIST 303 – History of Quebec during the Fall 2026 term. The course covers Quebec history from New France to contemporary times, emphasizing themes such as ethnic relations, citizenship, gender, and material culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver in‑person lectures on Tuesdays and Thursdays (8:35 – 9:55 am) in Trottier 0100.
  • Prepare and update course materials, reading lists, and assessment tools.
  • Grade assignments, exams, and provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Hold regular office hours to support student learning.
  • Collaborate with department faculty on curriculum development and academic initiatives.

Required profile

  • PhD or ABD in Canadian History or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the history of Quebec (preferred).
  • Prior university‑level teaching experience is an asset.
  • Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work on the Montreal campus.
  • Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
