About the role

The Department of Political Science at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer to teach U.S. Politics (POLI 325-001) during the Fall 2026 term. This short‑term appointment involves delivering lectures, guiding discussions, and assessing student performance.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver two weekly 80‑minute lectures (Monday and Wednesday, 08:35‑09:55) in RPHYS 112 from August 31 to December 4, 2026.
  • Prepare course materials, including syllabi, reading lists, and presentation slides.
  • Facilitate classroom discussions on the founding of the American political system, constitutional development, and major institutions.
  • Design, administer, and grade assignments, exams, and other assessments.
  • Provide timely feedback and hold office hours to support student learning.

Required profile

  • A completed PhD or enrollment in a doctoral program in Political Science or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated effective teaching ability, preferably with experience teaching a similar course.
  • Specialization that aligns closely with U.S. politics, constitutional history, or federalism.
  • Experience as a teaching assistant is considered an asset.
