About the role
The Department of History and Classical Studies at McGill University is seeking a qualified instructor to teach CLAS 308 – Gender in the Ancient World during the Fall 2026 term. The course explores gender roles across the ancient Mediterranean, meeting twice weekly in person.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver lectures on Monday and Wednesday mornings (8:35‑9:55 am) in M. H. Wong Building 1020.
- Prepare and update course materials, reading lists, and assessments.
- Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and participation.
- Maintain office hours and provide academic support to enrolled students.
- Collaborate with department faculty on curriculum development and departmental initiatives.
Required profile
- PhD or ABD in Classics or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in Greek and Roman culture, literature, or history (preferred).
- Prior university‑level teaching experience in Classics is advantageous.
- Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work on the Montreal campus.
